What is the Average Package of IITians’?

                    

The average package of IITians’ from the top IITs’ usually ranges from 10Lakhs to 20Lakhs whereas in the other IITs’ it ranges from 5Lakhs to 10Lakhs. The highest package will be provided to the students of top IITs’ from the top International companies.  

The Top IITs’:

The top IITs’ are IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee. These IITs’ offer the highest packages to their students. These IITs’ rank in the top 10 list in the NIRF ranking. The top international companies visit these IITs’ to offer packages over crores. The placement records of last year (2019-2020) say that the highest package offered was 1.54 crores from IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur stands second with 1.5 crores. The other top IITs have also recorded highest packages over one crore.

Other IITs’:

The IITs’ other than the top IITs’ offer an average package of 5 to 10 lakhs. These IITs’ will usually will not have any international placements and will have domestic placements. The students from these IITs’ can get up to an annual package of 50 lakhs. The minimum package will be from 3 to 4 lakhs per annum.

IIT Madras:  

The highest package offered by the top international companies ranges above 1 crore every year. The top recruiters of IIT Madras are Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Infosys, Amazon, and ISRO. The average placement percentage of IIT Madras stands near 80 percentage every year. The average domestic package ranges from 10 to 20 lakhs. The highest domestic package is around 40 Lakhs. The highest international package was 1.33 crores per annum. IIT Madras has always stood first in terms of placements and academics. Computer science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are the top courses which get more placements and a higher package.

IIT Delhi:

                IIT Delhi was established in 1961 and was granted the status pf a Deemed university with powers to decide its own academic policy. The top recruiters are Capgemini, Intel Uber, Flipkart, Deloitte, IBM, Dell and Wipro. The highest international package was 1.4 crores per annum. The median package ranges between 20 to 25 lakhs and the highest domestic package ranges from 40 to 60 lakhs. IIT Delhi has always been good at attracting both domestic and international recruiters. Computer science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering are the top courses which attract a higher package. Mathematics and Computing has also become popular nowadays.

IIT Bombay:

IIT Bombay is one of the finest IITs in India. The top recruiters of IIT Bombay are Microsoft, Samsung, Google, Qualcomm, Amazon, Adobe, TATA, ONGC, and Accenture. The average CTC has raised to 20.34 lakhs from 17.75 lakhs. The highest international package offered was 1.16 crores and the highest domestic package was 692.28 lakhs. The placement percentage was around 85 percentage for the past years. Computer science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are the top courses which get more placements and a higher package.

IIT Kanpur:

IIT Kanpur is one of the oldest universities in India. The top recruiters are Infosys, ICICI Bank, Ford GAIL, IBM, Sapient, and Indiamart.  The median salary was 15.8 lakhs per annum and the highest domestic package was 93 lakhs per annum. The highest international package offered was 1.5 crores per annum. Computer science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are in high demand here and the students who study this are more likely to be placed for a higher package.

IIT Kharagpur:

IIT Kharagpur was the first IIT in India. It was set up in 1951. The top recruiters are Intel, Quantiphi, PWC, Tata steel and Qualcomm. The average package offered was 13.3 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic package ranges between 60 to 70 lakhs per annum. The highest international package offered was one crore per annum. Computer science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering are the most popular courses in IIT Kharagpur.

IIT Roorkee:

                     IIT Roorkee is ranked as the best among all IITs in terms of international student parameters. The top recruiters are Microsoft, Uber, ONGC, ISRO and Goldman Sachs. The average package offered was 20 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic package offered was 47 lakhs per annum. The highest international package offered was 1054 crores per annum which is the highest annual package among all IITs. The students who pursue Computer science and Engineering  or Electrical Engineering are comparatively placed for a higher package.

IIT Guwahati:

                        IIT Guwahati is ranked 7th in the NIRF ranking. The top recruiters are Cognizant, tata motors, L & T, Reliance, Adobe, Amazon, Samsung and American Express. The median package offered was 15.57 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic package was 44 lakhs per annum and the highest international package was 1.5 crores per annum.

IIT Hyderabad:

                         IIT Hyderabad was found twelve years ago and within a short period of time it is ranked 8th in the NIRF ranking by the government of India. The top recruiters are Qualcomm, Goldman sachs, Oracle Yahoo Japan, Maruti Suzuki and Renault. The median package offered was 16.74 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic package offered was 53.79 lakhs.

IIT Indore:

                  IIT Indore is one of the eight new IITs established in India. The top recruiters are Bharat Seats, Intel, L& T, Cognizant and Amazon. The median package offered was 16.6 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic package offered was 36.5 lakhs per annum and the highest international package was 42.5 lakhs per annum.

IIT Varanasi (BHU):

                    IIT Varanasi is also one of the old universities in India the top recruiters are Intel, Mindtickle, Uber, Oracle and Uber. The average package offered was 8.19 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic package was 1.04 crores which is the highest offered package among all IITs in domestic levels. The highest international package offered was 1.52 crores which is the second highest package among all the IITs.
IIT Bhubaneshwar:

                     The IIT Bhubaneshwar is one of the newest IITs opened in India, though being newly opened it has top recruiters like Adobe, Infosys, Oracle, Samsung, Renault, Nissan and ISRO. The median salary package offered was 11.5 lakhs per annum. The highest package offered was 39 lakhs per annum. Since it is one of the newly opened IITs it did not attract much of the international recruiters.

IIT Jodhpur:

                   The IIT Jodhpur which was formerly called as IIT Rajasthan was established in 2008. It has been very good in attracting domestic recruiters. The top recruiters are Tata Motors, TVS, Volvo, Eicher, Mahindra, amazon, and Microsoft. The median package offered was 11 lakhs per annum. The highest package offered was 32.5 lakhs per annum. The placements are comparatively more for mechanical department in IIT Jodhpur.

Streams that pay more:

Computer science, Electrical and Mechanical are the streams that pay more when compared to other streams. A student from IIT Varanasi who pursued computer science has been placed for a whopping package of 2.03 crores by Oracle US. This proves that Computer science is the stream that is growing very fast and can give an amazing package. The students from IITs who pursued the above-mentioned streams has been placed for a higher median package when compared to the students pursued other streams.

Finally, Streams should be chosen on the basis of interest and it must not be chosen by considering the packages. Pure interest and hard work in any streams can offer a higher package.
